Welcome to my website!
I am a Spanish to English translator and CCHI certified health care interpreter.
I found my way to translation and medical interpreting after many years of employment as a bilingual social worker, investigating elder abuse and assisting older and disabled adults –usually monolingual Spanish speakers-- with medical, social, and economic concerns. Because of this work experience, I also have a keen interest in translating topics related to gerontology and geriatrics.
Through my translation and healthcare interpreting, I am able to effectively combine my prior work experience with my language fluency.
Education and Professional Associations
I graduated from California State University at Monterey Bay with a B.A. in World Languages and Cultures, with emphasis in Spanish, and subsequently obtained a certificate in Spanish to English Translation from New York University. Additionally, I am a CCHI Certified Healthcare Interpreter, with extensive experience in physical therapy, endocrinology, neurology, and child psychiatry.
To further my professional development I attend trainings, classes, and conferences related to translation, interpretation, and aging and mental health topics. I am also a Hospice Volunteer Visitor, spending time with end of life patients in their homes or residential facilities.

Translation Services
I translate documents from Spanish into English, including:
- medical articles, abstracts and medical reports; questionnaires and health surveys; hospital policies and procedures manuals; informed consent forms; training materials regarding aging and disability; back translations.
- books of fiction
- legal documents and certificates
I have an excellent eye for detail and, after many years of working with individual patients and government entities, I am familiar with confidentiality, deadlines, and effective communication skills.
- Translation fees are generally based on the number of words in your document, editing, formatting requirements, and deadlines. I charge a minimum fee of $50.00 for small jobs. Please contact me to discuss your translation needs and I will provide a price quote, free of charge.
- Legal certificates are billed per page; legal documents per word (see above). Notary fee is additional.
- Interpreting fees are per hour, with a 2 hour minimum.
- Payment methods are PayPal, check, or direct deposit in euros or US dollars. Invoices are payable within 30 days.
